Workers Unite against International Shutting Down! A Thousand Thoughts cannot compete with an act. Liberate the labors. Workers No limit!

The company “HYDIS” was a korean LSD manufacturer owned by YFY, a Taiwanese financial group. In 2015, the subsidiary company of YFY, E-Ink, implemented mass redundancy of employees, with the assembly line shut down and 90% of workers laid off. The management claimed that the controversial policy was due to business losses. However, the union believe that the redundancy was unreasonable. They have thus launched the fight against the management 2 years ago.
The HYDIS workers were not fighting for the severance pay but the right to work. During the fight, they suffered from financial pressure and loadings from household duties. The oppression from the management was so strict that one worker even committed suicide.
This fight has displayed how a technology enterprise expands itself by purchasing intellectual properties, while in the same time it abandons the workers who have been collectively creating the properties. The story of HYDIS is just one of the many cases of international scandals, in which the capitalist exploit workers in a global manner.
In June 2015, the HYDIS workers came to Taiwan, requesting to negotiate with their parent company. Unfortunately, the ROC government chose to defend the benefits of the capitalist, banning the immigration of up to 73 workers.
Taiwan capitalist hide themselves behind the national regime, which we the Taiwanese people feel sorry about but could not tolerate. On September 9th , “無我” salon would provide voluntary haircut for one day to raise funds for the HYDIS workers. As the Korean workers could not come to us, we will then bring our funds and support there, standing together with them!
On every Wednesday, the HYDIS workers hold their cultural festival (without particular activity announcement). Taiwanese people will bring the funds we raised and little gifts to support them. We will also hold a DIY woodblock printing workshop in the event. Please come and join this solidarity against the multination company between Korea and Taiwan!
